Summertime is a great time to get caught up on your reading list. Whether on vacation, days at the beach, lazy warm days spent in the back yard or floating in the pool summer equals reading! Here is a list of five of the many books I read this summer.
Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice from the Best in the World
By Timothy Ferriss
Tribe of Mentors is a well written collection of over 100 mini-interviews, where some of the world’s most successful people share their ideas around habits, learning, money, relationships, failure, success, and life. Tim’s capacity to get down to an intimate level in these interviews is nothing short of phenomenal. Where else can you get a peek into the lives of top performers and duplicate tried and true habits and ideas in your own life?
I love Tim Ferris’s way of thinking. I got hooked on his writing years ago with his first book The Four-Hour Workweek. What attracts me most to this author? His forward out of the box thinking.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: 30th Anniversary Edition
By Stephen R. Covey
This old- school book is a gem that I first read in the 90’s and I have re-read it each summer since. You will be surprised because each habit has become normal everyday practices that modern day business leaders teach.
Stephen beautifully lays out the seven habits of successful people along with seven fundamental principles that are timed tested to bring success to entrepreneurial people striving to achieve their goals. I’ve incorporated these habits into my daily life, and they have truly helped me to live a happy, well-balanced, and successful life.
My suggestion is start reading with the habit number one and skip the psychology introduction. Readers can sometimes get lost in the terminology causing them to put down the book and not get to the juicy habits.
The Compound Effect (10th Anniversary Edition): Jumpstart Your Income. Your Life, Your Success
By Darren Hardy
This book is all about consistency and how to make seemingly boring and insignificant daily disciplines compound overtime to add up to massive results. This book totally reflects one of my favorite quotes from Bruce Lee- “Consistency Trumps Intensity.” Here are some personal examples of my own. Going to the gym most days has increased my muscle mass and reduced stress in my life. Another one is working consistently on my business for the last 41 years has compounded into mass success and wealth.
Darren talks about Big Mo, what is this? It’s momentum and when you gain momentum your success moves faster. What I like about this author is he is also a success coach and has a great podcast called Darren Daily.
Uplevel Your Communication: Evolve Your Presence and Speech to Change Everything
By Dr. Miluna Fausch
If you want to speak in a clear, compassionate, charismatic way this book is for you. Many of us don’t work on how we sound and choosing the words we speak, then wonder why we sound plain, flat, and uninspiring. Dr. Miluna’s book will help you take command of your voice. A great example especially for us women is the turning down our volume and what Dr. Miluna calls upspeak, which is the pitch of your voice going up at the end of a sentence instead of down. Upspeak sounds like we are unsure of ourselves or almost like we are asking a question instead of making a statement. This makes us seem unsure and our audience may be thinking – does she know what she’s taking about? Can we trust her?
There are many more amazing communication exercises, examples, and instructions in this gold mine of a book. Try it out and see for yourself, I think you’ll be amazed.
Being Your Own Superstar: How to Expand Your Love Capacity
By Joie Gharrity
I love this book, Joie was actually ‘downloaded this book as she was sitting at a friends end of life celebration and was not in a good place in her life. Suddenly memories dropped into her mind and spirit. Joie explains it so well- “Then at that moment, something extraordinary happened. It was as if a bright light of pure love washed over me. Within seconds, a series of memories flooded my consciousness.”
These memories all connected the realization of the Love Capacity Concept. After reading this book I understand that I have the container to except mass amounts of love and if I respond by sending love back out to the universe my whole world expands.
Take a spin around this book and do the daily exercises. It will be life changing!
My wish… is that you will find my summer reading books valuable, insightful, and entertaining. Now, there is a sixth book. On June 22nd my own book launched and made the Amazon Best Seller’s list in Women’s Inspiration and Business. The official launch is on September 22nd, 2022, in Erie Pennsylvania. I will be flying there to meet my co-authors in person and spend time with them. I’d love for you to read our book, it’s an anthology called and if you are looking for courage to get through your life’s battles or just need a little push to get over a hurtle, I think you will enjoy our book. We are a circle of women, some who have never met each other in person that came together and literally birthed this book by sharing our hearts and souls.
